About Our Used Book Sales
The Friends of the Library used book sales are our biggest source of revenue. Each sale is run entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds benefit the Poudre Libraries. We do our best to hold multiple book sales per year.

Multi-day sales: These sales happen every few months and run from Friday to Sunday. FOL members get early access to these sales on Thursday night. See more membership benefits here!

Specialty sales: Genre-specific sales, holiday sales, and warehouse sales events will be announced throughout the year. They typically last only one or two days, so follow us on social media if you don't want to miss a sale!

How can I pay? We accept cash, credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, JCB, Diners Club), debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and checks. We only accept checks with pre-printed name and address, no exceptions. You must also write or print a current telephone number on the check. Please make checks out to Friends of the Library or FOL. *A $25 surcharge will be added to the face value of returned checks*

Do you charge sales tax? Yes, we are required to charge the City of Fort Collins sales tax. Taxes are included in the prices. Book resellers must show proof of tax exempt status.

How are books priced? Pricing starts at $1 for children's books and up to $4 for adult and YA hardcovers. Books from the specials category have their prices marked in the front cover.

Are there discounts? We offer 50% discount for teachers when purchasing books for their classroom. Bring your school badge. Sundays are half-price day for all patrons during our multi-day sales.

Can I become a member at the sale? Yes. If you would like members-only access to the Thursday sale preview night, you can either sign up at the sale or sign up online before the sale. If you sign up only the day of the preview night, you may not show up on our list yet, so bring your membership payment receipt.

All sales are final. No refunds, exchanges, or returns.

In between our sales events, we encourage library patrons to visit The Nook at Old Town Library and Friends Bookshop at Harmony Library to shop our used book collection.
